Nasiruddin Nezaami Joins A Roundtable On Afghanistan between Genocide and Gender Apartheid

Organized at Stanford University in 2023, this event was co-sponsored by Abbasi Program in Islamic Studies and the Center for South Asia. These sponsors described this event timely and very crucial: "Since the US withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021, the Taliban takeover has precipitated a broad assault on this society. Our panel seeks to make sense of the varied forms of violence - ethnic, religious, and gender-based - that have made the status of key communities - Hazaras, Tajiks, and others - more and more vulnerable by the day. Scholars of human rights, public policy, the law, and diplomacy will analyze the origins and effects of this violence and explore their disastrous consequences for the diverse communities that make up the political landscape of Afghanistan."

In this roundtable, Nasiruddin was joined by Mehdi Hakimi, Humphrey Fellow, Harvard Law School and Farkhondeh Akbari, Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Monash University's Gender, Peace and Security Centre.
